QMedCONNECT Newsletter: January 2012

---

Dear friends,

We have started the new year with one promising activity. We at QMed went through a training program on using Moodle. For those who have not heard of it, Moodle is an open source learning management system. We aim to create programs where people can register online and learn at their pace. We plan to introduce tests and practice modules too. Our dream is to get them certified for credit hours. Any help/suggestions towards this will be deeply appreciated!

I delivered four lectures on literature searching this month and the response to these is getting better with time, resulting in more requests. We hope to translate all these into more workshops and Train the Trainer programs

Article of the Month

Tharyan P.

Finding and using the evidence you can trust.

Indian Journal of Medical Ethics 2012; 9:27-32

This month's featured article is extremely important for Indian health professionals. The ICMR has sponsored countrywide access to the Cochrane Library in India. And it is essential that every health professional makes use of this resource and every academician understands this resource and teaches it to students. The article explains the importance of Cochrane Reviews and gives a lucid description with ten points as to why they are regarded as reliable sources of evidence. A "must read and understand" article for every Indian health professional, academician and student.

Quote of the Month

Perfect as the wing of a bird may be, it will never enable the bird to fly if unsupported by the air. Facts are the air of science. Without them a man of science can never rise.
