May-June: Every Step Creates Impact
|
The past two months have reinforced something that has always inspired us at QMed—learning has a remarkable ripple effect. Every individual who learns to search the literature effectively, manage references correctly, or appreciate the importance of evidence-based practice carries that knowledge forward, influencing colleagues, students, and ultimately patient care.
|
This edition captures several such moments. One of my favourite stories is about a librarian whose determination brought over a hundred researchers together to strengthen their literature-searching skills. It is a powerful reminder that creating change does not always require grand initiatives. Sometimes, it begins with one person recognizing a need and taking the first step. On a more personal note, my birthday this year also became an opportunity for reflection. Looking back at the journey of QMed, I was reminded that every challenge has brought valuable learning, every collaboration has opened new possibilities, and every person who has supported us has contributed to where we are today. During May and June, we had the privilege of engaging with medical, nursing, dental and homoeopathy institutions, research workshops, and international student groups. Whether through lectures, webinars or hands-on workshops, we met learners at different stages of their research journeys. Yet the questions they asked often reflected a common need—to build confidence in finding, evaluating and managing scientific information. These interactions continue to reassure us that information literacy is no longer a niche requirement; it is becoming an essential component of quality healthcare education and research.

Our online courses continue to reach new learners as well, and it is especially rewarding to read testimonials from participants who discover that literature searching and referencing are not just research skills, but lifelong professional competencies. Every learner who tells us that they now feel more confident is a reminder of why we do what we do.
|
