April: Workshops Are Back. Will You Help Keep the Momentum Going?
April was a nice month for us, for two reasons - we conducted a full day workshop at the Breach Candy Hospital Mumbai and we also got a donation from Dr Devashish Saini with a lovely message from him!
We had this opportunity for a workshop after a little more than a year - that was a long gap. But soon after this one got confirmed, we also got a confirmation for one in May - this time at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. Again - suddenly invitations for lectures and webinars are streaming in. I am happiest when teaching and all these events are so very welcome.

I have also written a blog post, where I mentioned about how persistence paid early in my career and how persistence is still an integral part of me - for QMed. Do read our blog posts to learn more. I have shared them below.

The Early 1990s. My Years as a Medical Librarian. The Foundations of My Persistence
From Quiet Shelves to a Living Library My second library job was in a hospital library. In the early 1990s. And I miss it even today! In the 3.5 years I spent there, I had the privilege of transforming a minimally used space into one that buzzed with activity from the moment it opened until closing time. Empty reading tables …

You Might Be Using Boolean Operators Wrong. But That’s Easy to Fix!
Anyone who learns how to search online, at some point learns the use of Boolean operators – AND, OR, NOT. If they learn further, they learn about proximity operators too But interestingly this is a tool often highly misused. Either due to lack of knowledge, or plain human error. The latter happens less as one practices. But if one repeatedly …

Course: Advanced PubMed Searching for Authoring Systematic Reviews
I understood why a search strategy has to be so detailed for a systematic review. I also learnt that I cannot use the [Mesh] tag for just any search term. I got clarity that subheadings need to be used only in rare instances. I learnt how careful I need to be while using Boolean operators and understood how to find all possible text words. I learnt how to document the strategy to use in the Review. What I liked the most about this QMED course, was the practical training and hands-on experience. Rabiul Rahaman Shaikh, UG student, Diamond Harbour Government Medical College and Hospital (Supported by Foundation For Excellence)
