February: A Month of Learning, Planning, and Doing More

After sharing the news about receiving accreditation to conduct webinars in our January newlsetter, February has been a month of understanding what it truly takes to roll out accredited programs. There’s been plenty happening behind the scenes as we prepare to launch those from next month.

But while we plan, we certainly didn’t slow down!
We decided to increase our own webinars from bimonthly to weekly, and conducted four this month—two free and open to all, and two in-depth sessions supported by a small donation. Topics ranged from Literature Searching and mastering PubMed to Referencing and working with Zotero.

We were also out and about delivering lectures at Terna Medical College, YMT Dental and Ayurvedic Colleges, and MGM Panvel. It’s always a pleasure to see such engaged participants across institutions.

One change we’re especially happy about: our immediate quizzes during sessions. They’re proving far more engaging—and seem to support better learning—than the traditional end-of-session quizzes.

We also shared six blog posts this month, including reflections from our intern Mahek, our work with Foundation for Excellence to support UG students, and a doctor’s experience of applying what he learned in our workshop.

February has felt productive, energising, and full of meaningful connections. Onward to March—and our accredited webinars!

Vasumathi Sriganesh.

The Basics We Are Never Taught
A “They Don’t Know What They Don’t Know” Problem in Medical Search Literacy When 1005 Wasn’t One Thousand and Five This happened just a few days back. Our domestic help—educated only till primary school but otherwise very intelligent—once wrote down an expense as ₹1005. That surprised us. Whenever she spends money on our behalf and we later reimburse the same, …

Testimonials for QMedCourses

Course: Information Resources & Literature Searching
This course made me realize that I was searching everything in the wrong direction. The course gave me the right pathway for searching. It starts from the basics, which is very helpful for a student like me. There is also a test which helps us track our progress. Aaliya Shakil Bagwan, UG student, GMC Ratnagiri (Supported by Foundation For Excellence).

Course: Advanced PubMed Searching for Authoring Systematic Reviews
I would be happy to recommend the course personally within my academic and professional networks, including university groups and research communities, and mention it during relevant academic discussions or workshops. The clear and systematic explanation of MeSH terms and structured search strategies. The practical approach, which made the concepts directly applicable to academic research and literature reviews. Harsha Rani Ramchiary, Dep of Community and Family Medicine, AIIMS Guwhatai.
